This was the first Macy’s Men’s Style & Details Magazine event I’ve attended and I found it to be a great success! The Spring Style showcase was a very informal which is pretty cool because everyone at Dadeland Mall was able to attend. Macy’s set up three small stages in the middle hallway where three male models were on point wearing the styled men’s collections. The thought out styling for this event was done by no other than Colin Stark, whom I had the pleasure of meeting. A very down to earth humble friendly man. And of course, very stylish himself. He also styled this very same showcase for with his partner for the Macy's in Chicago as well as NYC. When I asked him how different it is to style between Miami and these other locations he expressed that it can be more fun to play a with the vivid colors with Miami's vibe versus NYC where the hues are a bit darker and neutral. The show case was divided into four different scenes targeting from the usual suspects to the nerdy chic.
Colins styling for this show was very trendy and hip with a lot of emphasis on detailing, everything from hats to bow ties and let's not forget the folding of cuffs and hems to show off the contrasting materials of patterns. The pop of colors were a welcomed surprise. My favorite thing about the show, was to demonstrate that men can also take on the trends that us woman have been enjoying for the past few seasons - color blocking and mixing patterns.
